There are many types of motorbike and some of them are street bike, standard bike, cruiser, touring bike, scooter, sport, and dirt bike, just to name a few.
- Street bikes have smooth tires with light tread pattern and are designed for ridding on paved roads.
- Standard bikes are like street bikes with their riders seated in an upright position. Their feet are resting on foot pegs just below the seat and handlebars just high enough for the rider to be seated in a natural and comfortable position. These are most suit for beginners.
- Cruisers are designed for low to moderate speeds riding. The rider is seated with the feet forward and the hands rested high on the handlebars. Riding for long period may be uncomfortable and leads to fatigue seated in such a position.
- Touring bikes are specially designed to perform well at covering long distances. Riders and passengers are seated in upright comfortable position. Touring bikes are equipped with luggage space.
- Scooters have smaller engine sizes and smaller wheels than other motorcycles and they are quieter too.
- Sport bikes have high performance engines and braking system and are designed for high speeds and great performance.
- Dirt bikes or off-road bikes are designed for off the road events e.g. unpaved surfaces such as sand, gravel, mud, river or even snow. Dirt bikes are simpler and lighter than other bikes.

- Check the oils and fluids. Make sure you always have these to top up. Check out Bike Bandit or other websites regularly for sale or good discounts for the oil and chemicals.
- Check tires for wear, dent or crack. Remember to also check the air pressure with air pressure gauge.
- Make a habit of checking your battery regularly. You wouldn’t want a flat battery when you have something important to attend to.
